Testing Services at CCC

Capital City Campus is a certified Testing Center. We administer exams for college courses, the ACCUPLACER test, CLEP tests, the TEAS test, and other institutional exams. Many online class exams must be proctored, either online or on paper. We also proctor tests for out-of-state schools. There is a $25 Administrative Fee for each proctored exam; if you have been accepted as a student by a South Dakota Board of Regents public university, this fee is waived.

ACCUPLACER Test Proctoring

ACCUPLACER is a series of tests that evaluate students' skills in reading, writing, and math to help college administrators place them in courses that match their skills. The ACCUPLACER test is available for technical schools and non-traditional university students. You will receive your test results immediately upon completion.

If you have been accepted as a student by a South Dakota Board of Regents public university, you will need direction from them to schedule your ACCUPLACER test.

Test-takers not accepted to a South Dakota Board of Regents public university degree program will be charged an administration fee in addition to the cost of their test. All test-takers challenging an ACT or earlier ACCUPLACER score will be charged for the cost of their test. Both of these administrative fees are $25.

College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) Test Proctoring

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) helps you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. CLEP offers 34 exams that cover introductory level college course material. Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program, available at more than 2,900 colleges and universities. These exams are offered in numerous introductory-level subjects and enable students to earn college credit and accelerate their education.

As a first step, we recommend you check with the registrar of your college or university to be sure they will accept the exam you plan to take for college credit and that the exam will meet your degree program requirements. Students must then register for the CLEP exam more than two weeks in advance of when you'd like to take it. Following registration, complete the appropriate proctor form here to schedule your exam appointment.

Each CLEP test costs $90 payable to CLEP via My Account, plus a separate $25 administration fee that is due upon scheduling the exam time with Capital City Campus (CCC). This administration fee is waived for all Board of Regents students. Please check with your educational institution to see if this fee is waived.

Test-takers must bring their CLEP Exam Registration Voucher, as well as their CLEP-approved ID, in order for CCC to administer their exam on the testing date. Please visit the CollegeBoard website for more information about preparing for the CLEP test.

*Please note: For the 2023-24 school year (July 1, 2023 -June 30, 2024) the CLEP exam fee will be $93

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Test Proctoring

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) evaluates a student's readiness for college programs in the health sciences — primarily nursing programs. While not always required, TEAS scores are a common requirement at schools that offer competitive undergraduate nursing programs. We recommend you speak with the school you wish to enroll to find out if you will be required to take the TEAS exam. The school will provide important deadline dates, as well as information on where you should take your TEAS Exam and more. More information regarding the TEAS exam can be found at the ATI Testing website here.
